The Venerable Harry Dan Leigh Viener CBE,〔(7 October 1919 )〕 〔(Edinburgh Gazette 14 October 1919 )〕 UCd’I,〔(Messina Eathquake Awards )〕 MA, was an eminent Anglican Chaplain in the first half of the 20th century.〔(Flight Global )〕 Born in Blackpool 〔(Baptisms at Christ Church in the Parish of Blackpool )〕 on 26 December 1868,〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 he was educated at Malvern College and St John's College, Oxford. He was a Schoolmaster and Private Tutor from 1892 to 1899 when he was ordained a Deacon into the Church of England; and Priest the following year.〔Jackson's Oxford Journal (Oxford, England), Saturday, 16 June 1900; Issue 7683. Ordinations Lichfield〕 After a curacy at St Peter’s, Walsall〔(Church Web Site )〕 he was a naval chaplain and instructor from 1901〔(London Gazette 12 November 1901 )〕 until 1918 when he joined the fledgling RAF Chaplaincy Service as its Archdeacon (Chaplain-in-Chief).
